THE BIG FREEZE IN BRONCOED

Snow

"Community self help will remain an important activity" says Ray Dodd

Residents of the Broncoed ward, like everyone else, have struggled to cope with the latest round of severe wintry weather.

Ray Dodd has spoken with Flintshire Highways department at the Halkyn Depot about problems that have been reported but with limited success. While major efforts were made to keep main routes open most side roads and estate roads did not have high priority status.

Ray says - "During the first snowfall I have been heartened to see many people acting in a neighbourly manner - clearing the footpaths outside their own property and lending a hand to help elderly neighbours.

"Like others, the County Council could have done better but its staff cannot be everywhere at once and if the snow returns (as it is forecast) community self help will remain an important activity."
